I don’t think you can read this book without a beer in hand. I also think this is a book that a lot of men need to read. Man to Man, Dad to Dad: Catholic Faith and Fatherhood, edited by Brian Caulfield (Pauline Books & Media, ) Of this pile of books, this is Author: Sarah Reinhard. These, the book of Hebrews explains, are effective for salvation, whereas the work of the old covenant priests was not. Moreover, the effectiveness of Christ’s priestly work is tied to its superiority over the old covenant order, and this superiority is due to Jesus’ being “a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek” (Heb. ).

Of course there are challenges to the priesthood – probably more to faithful priests today than ever before because of the scandals which continue to surface. The challenges are tough for those faithful priests because of abusive behaviour by some – much more so than even a harsh judgment on the part of parishioners! The Challenge of Being a Priest Today Rev. Thomas P. Rausch, SJ A Life Uncommonly Blest Why would anyone want to be a priest today? Not an easy question to answer. Certainly, for a good priest willing to put himself out for the people he serves, the life is not easy. The demands on his time are many and constant, the pay is minimal, andFile Size: KB.

Today we find ourselves at the beginning of Hebrews 5, which is part of a lengthy exposition on the priestly work of Christ. Over the past three days, we have seen the author of Hebrews introduce this topic by telling us of Jesus’ superiority as High Priest.   Being a Priest Today by Christopher J. Open : Best book yet of the many I have read. Insightful, informative exploration of what lies at the heart of a calling to serve as a priest.

Honest engagement witht he challenges that will be faced as well as not being frightened to challenge the sense of vocation currently held. Highly reccomended/5(24).

The Lord commanded every priesthood holder to “stand in his own office, and labor in his own calling” (D&C ). To do this, we must first learn and then fulfill our different responsibilities in the priesthood.

As priests, we have all the responsibilities and duties of a deacon and teacher. And not just participants, but a special kind of participant, the priests.

All of you. This is the great teaching about the "priesthood of all believers." We all—lay people and vocational elders—are the priests of this new spiritual house, and our privilege now as priests is.
